Dear HMS Learning Community,

Welcome to fall at Hemphill Middle School! September is always an exciting time of year as our classrooms, fields, and performance spaces fill with energy and growth.

This month also brings a time of reflection. Our teachers will begin digging into our CMAS results from last spring, I-Ready beginning of year data, and classroom assessments to guide our Professional Learning Communities (PLCs). During these meetings, teachers collaborate to examine student data, celebrate growth, and refine instructional practices. This commitment keeps student learning at the heart of everything we do.

Middle school is about preparing students academically while also supporting their social, emotional, and physical well-being. We are proud of the balance our school creates between strong academics, character development, and extracurricular opportunities. Our athletes are hard at work this season, and we can’t wait to see their dedication come alive in games and competitions. Likewise, our performing arts department is busy nurturing the creativity of our musicians and actors. Whether on the stage, the field, or in the classroom, our students are learning to grow, persevere, and shine.
